About The Position

Bedford North Lawrence High School is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our athletics program as an Assistant Swim/Diving Coach. This position offers a unique opportunity to work with student-athletes in a supportive and collaborative environment, helping to foster their skills and passion for swimming and diving. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in aquatic sports, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to promoting a positive and inclusive team culture.

Requirements

• Previous experience in competitive swimming and/or diving, either as an athlete or coach.
• Strong knowledge of swimming and diving techniques, rules, and training methodologies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.
• Ability to work collaboratively with the head coach, other coaching staff, and school administration.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to effectively manage practices and competitions.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends during the swim season.
• A passion for promoting a positive and inclusive environment for all athletes.
• High school diploma required; college degree in a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the head coach in planning and conducting daily swim and diving practices, ensuring a safe and productive environment for all athletes.
• Provide instruction and feedback on swimming techniques, diving skills, and overall performance to enhance athlete development.
• Help develop and implement training plans that align with the team's goals and individual athlete needs.
• Support the head coach in organizing and executing swim meets and diving competitions, including preparing athletes for competition and managing logistics.
• Foster a positive team environment that encourages teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth among student-athletes.
• Monitor and evaluate athlete progress, providing constructive feedback to help them reach their potential.
• Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and school administration regarding team activities, schedules, and expectations.
• Assist in maintaining equipment and facilities, ensuring they are safe and ready for use.
• Attend coaching clinics and workshops to stay current with best practices in coaching and athlete development.
