About The Position

Lake Central High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our high school athletics program as a full-time Assistant Swim & Diving Coach. This position requires a strong commitment to the development of student-athletes in both swimming and diving disciplines. The ideal candidate will support the head coach in training, mentoring, and guiding students while fostering a positive team environment that emphasizes sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth.

Requirements

Strong knowledge of swimming and diving techniques, rules, and strategies.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire athletes.
Ability to work collaboratively with athletes, parents, and school staff.
Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
Ability to pass a background check as required by school district policies.
Availability to work after school hours, including evenings and weekends during the swim season.
A passion for promoting the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of student-athletes.

Nice To Haves

Previous coaching experience in swimming and diving at the high school or competitive level is preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist the head coach in developing and implementing training programs for swim and dive teams, focusing on technique, endurance, and competitive performance.
Conduct daily practice sessions, ensuring that all athletes receive individualized attention and instruction to improve their skills.
Collaborate with the head coach to develop competition strategies and prepare athletes for meets.
Monitor and evaluate athlete performance during practices and competitions, providing constructive feedback for improvement.
Foster a positive and inclusive team culture that promotes respect, teamwork, and personal accountability among athletes.
Communicate regularly with athletes, parents, and school administration regarding team activities, schedules, and expectations.
Assist with the organization of swim and dive meets, including logistics, timing, and record-keeping.
Ensure the safety of all athletes during practices and competitions, adhering to all safety protocols and guidelines.
Maintain equipment and supplies, ensuring that all gear is in good condition and available for use.
Participate in professional development opportunities to stay informed about the latest coaching techniques and safety practices.
