About The Position

The Assistant Supervisor of Transportation reports to the Director of Transportation and is a regular, full-time position. This role involves assisting the Director in all aspects of the supervision and coordination of the Canton City School District pupil transportation system.

Requirements

Four year degree from accredited college OR equivalent experience
Evidence of satisfactory experience in transportation and supervision
Must be knowledgeable in State and Federal transportation law as well as Ohio Department of Education pupil transportation regulations
Must have or obtain and maintain CDL certification
Must be knowledgeable in transportation routing software

Responsibilities

Assignment of buses, drivers and substitutes to routes
Recruiting and training bus drivers and other transportation personnel
Working with school officials to meet their transportation needs
Community relations, handling complaints and requests from parents and the public
Grievance procedure and employee discipline
Regulatory and reporting requirements
Budgeting and the planning and purchasing of necessary supplies and equipment
Creating and adjusting bus routes and stops
Overseeing the maintenance, housing, security & servicing of vehicles
Developing emergency transportation procedures and a bus safety program
All other duties as assigned
