About The Position

The Assistant Supervisor/Mechanic oversees the maintenance and repair function at a HELP USA facility and ensures the physical plant is well maintained. The role supports the provision of clean, well-maintained living spaces for residents.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent experience and skills.
• Supervisory experience in building trades or building maintenance.
• Ability to use tools and equipment associated with building physical plants.
• Basic understanding of and experience with electrical wiring, boiler mechanics, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
• Ability to interpret diagrams, shop drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
• Problem-solving skills.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license required.

Nice To Haves

• HVAC certification or license preferred.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish.
• Computer literacy with Microsoft applications.

Responsibilities

• Supervise maintenance staff, assign and coordinate their work, and follow up on progress.
• Identify physical plant deficiencies and establish and implement corrective action plans for repair or replacement.
• Train facility Porters to meet quality standards.
• Make repairs as needed.
• Adhere to OSHA requirements.
• Inventory and dispense materials and supplies.
