About The Position

The primary purpose of the Assistant Supervisor General Stores position is to assist the warehouse Supervisor and Manager in planning, organizing, and supervising the day-to-day operations of a large storeroom/warehouse. The Assistant Supervisor will also coordinate the daily activities of storeroom/warehouse staff involved in receiving, storing, inventorying, issuing and distribution of a wide variety of Med/Surg. supplies & Materials.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Reading and writing abilities sufficient to perform all required duties of the position and to read and understand safety regulations and related information required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in stockroom/warehouse work, retail, including obtaining, recording, storing, safeguarding, and issuing various types of equipment, materials and supplies and keeping of detailed records thereof.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in planning, organizing and supervising work encompassing receiving, recording, storing, safeguarding, and issuing a wide variety of materials and supplies.
  • Assists in the assignment and instruction of stock handlers and other employees assigned to the storeroom and supervises the performance of their work, ensuring that appropriate deadlines are met.
  • Assists in organizing and assigning work and develops effective working procedures, routines, and schedules for the stockrooms.
  • Assists in supervising the placement of stock in appropriate bins, shelves, racks and other receptacles and areas to ensure orderliness and safety; sees that all necessary precautions are taken to guard the stock against spillage, deterioration, loss, theft, and fire.
  • Upon receipt of proper requisitions or other authorization, assists in supervising the issuance of materials and supplies and the preparation of the necessary records.
  • Assists in the supervision of work operations and or functional programs and has responsibility for effectively recommending the hiring, firing, promoting, demoting and/or disciplining of employees and other personnel actions.
