About The Position

Ajax Building Company is seeking a driven Assistant Superintendent to support field execution on complex construction projects from mobilization through closeout. The role provides hands-on exposure to field leadership and a path toward becoming a Superintendent, working alongside experienced Superintendents and trade partners. The Assistant Superintendent helps manage daily site operations, coordinate subcontractors, and uphold safety, quality, and schedule requirements while developing the experience to lead increasingly complex projects.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
At least 5 years of construction experience, or at least 2 years of experience with a 4-year degree.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
In-depth understanding of construction operations and processes.
Thorough knowledge of safety requirements.
Ability to motivate employees and handle different situations.
Ability to coordinate eye, hand, and finger movements, with full use of hands, arms, and fingers.
Ability to see well, naturally or with correction.
Ability to climb and maintain balance on ladders and scaffolding.
Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or work at any height.
Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally more.

Nice To Haves

Formal journeyman carpentry training and/or supervisory training courses.
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering.

Responsibilities

Assist with supervising craft personnel to ensure the project is built according to design, within budget, and on schedule.
Assist in planning work schedules and determining manpower levels, material quantities, and equipment requirements.
Monitor personnel for compliance with safety and work procedures.
Advise the Superintendent of potential problems and assist with problem-solving.
Perform additional assignments as required.
