About The Position

Axiom Builders is looking in Victoria for an Assistant Superintendent to support the Superintendent and project team in directing and coordinating construction site activity on a 24 story, 300+ unit residential tower with commercial units on-grade. The successful candidate will work with construction leaders to plan and implement schedules, determine labour levels, material quantities and ensure the field team has all the tools and resources they need to be effective. As one of the leaders on site, the Assistant Superintendent will champion and promote safety initiatives in partnership with our CSO and safety team and ensure safety is top of mind for everyone on the team.

Requirements

  • Four to five (4-5) years of experience working on concrete projects with a sub-trade or general contractor;
  • Solid history of seeing a construction project from preconstruction to project completion;
  • Proficiency in reviewing structural drawings, blueprints and construction documents;
  • Strong ability and proven experience to work effectively with a site crew of various sizes;

Nice To Haves

  • Previous construction experience in a multi-phase, residential or mixed-use wood-frame projects will be considered a major asset;
  • Red Seal Carpentry ticket or construction related education will be considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Superintendent in managing work on site to ensure the compliance of construction drawings and specifications;
  • Support with administering contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, site instructions and change notices to ensure scopes, terms and conditions are properly executed;
  • Identify and advise of design deficiencies, schedule interruptions or difficulties, and other project issues, working collaboratively with Project Manager to resolve issues;
  • Monitor and evaluate subcontractor performance with regards to safety and scope of work;
  • Ensure sufficient labour resources are provided to achieve safety, schedule and quality objectives;
  • Maintain daily field reports, safety inspections, schedule updates and other construction documentation;
  • Ensure all employees, subcontractors and contractors are adhering to the company safety policies.
