About The Position

The Assistant Superintendent at Skanska supports on-site field operations to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and profitably. Reporting to the Superintendent, the role requires regular on-site presence to supervise the labor force, enforce Skanska’s Safety and Health Management Program, conduct quality inspections, and maintain strong relationships with owners, architects, and subcontractors. The position emphasizes leadership, organization, time management, and client-facing communication. Core responsibilities include day-to-day supervision of field crews, inspecting subcontractor work for contract compliance, developing and maintaining site logistics and short-term schedules, monitoring labor and material costs, preparing superintendent daily reports, and participating in project meetings. The Assistant Superintendent also reviews trade contractor payment applications with leadership, tracks change orders and tickets, and mentors team members to support an injury-free environment.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of proven construction experience.
  • 3+ years’ experience administering safety and QC policies with the ability to learn the Skanska Safety and QAQC Culture.
  • 1+ year working with schedule milestones and look-ahead schedules.
  • 1+ year assisting with job site logistics and management.
  • 1+ year tracking COs and tickets.
  • 1+ year working with plans and specs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience utilizing email, phone, and Microsoft Office platforms.
  • Understands basic management approaches such as work scheduling, prioritizing, coaching, and process execution.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred Procore Construction Management certification.
  • Preferred experience with broad job knowledge of technical or operational practices within electrical construction.
  • Preferred CMIT certificate.
  • Working knowledge of design and drawing software to including, but not limited to, Revit, AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, NAVIA, and Bluebeam.
  • Working knowledge of Oracle Primavera Cloud (OPC).
  • Experience with JD Edwards for timekeeping, project costs, and other project financials.

Responsibilities

  • Direct day-to-day on-site supervision of field labor force.
  • Inspection of Contractor or (Sub)Contract operations to ensure compliance with Contract.
  • Review and approve Trade Contractor Payment Applications with Superintendent / Project Manager.
  • Maintain good relationships with internal and external clients, including representatives of Owner and Architect/Engineer.
  • Develop and maintain site logistics plan, in coordination with Superintendent / Project Manager.
  • Conduct quality inspections.
  • Monitor costs, including labor time and material.
  • Communicate and enforce the Skanska Safety and Health Management Program.
  • Demonstrate commitment to an Injury-Free Environment through own actions and mentoring others.
  • Manage schedules, including preparation of detailed short-term schedules and ensuring all activities take place on or ahead of scheduled dates.
  • Prepare and submit Superintendent’s Daily Reports.
  • Attend and participate in project meetings, including subcontractor meetings.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and awareness of Skanska’s Self-Perform programs if applicable
  • Regular and consistent on-site attendance to monitor and observe construction operations and participate in scheduled and ad hoc production, safety, and supervisory meetings.
