About The Position

Under the direction of the Superintendent of Transportation or designee, the Superintendent of Transportation assists in all aspects of the Transportation Section including but not limited to: vacation, holiday and run picks; passenger services issues; Intelligent Bus System; work schedules; inputting operators' work in the driver pay system; daily service; commendations; labor relations; and monitoring and enforcing Pace rules, policies, and procedures. Essential functions include: Preparing and conducting annual performance reviews of Transportation Section employees. Preparing documentation for issuance and handling of discipline. Monitoring absenteeism program and prepares daily operation reports including payroll exception tickets. Performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Must have at minimum a high school diploma or equivalency.
• Must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in transit operations (or equivalent), with a working knowledge of safety, training, and customer relations.
• Must have a good work record.
• Must possess a valid Illinois driver's license.
• Must possess DOT certification.
• Must demonstrate intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Must possess strong transportation, planning, math, analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
• Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
• Sitting for extended periods, working on a computer, and attending meetings.
• Be able to lift objects weighing up to 10lbs.

Nice To Haves

• An associate degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
• Labor relations experience is preferred.
• Commercial Driver's License, Class B with an air brake endorsement is preferred with a good driving record.
• An understanding of the Intelligent Bus System is preferred.
