About The Position

Under the direction of the Superintendent of Transportation or designee, the Superintendent of Transportation assists in all aspects of the Transportation Section including but not limited to: vacation, holiday and run picks; passenger services issues; Intelligent Bus System; work schedules; inputting operators' work in the driver pay system; daily service; commendations; labor relations; and monitoring and enforcing Pace rules, policies, and procedures.

Requirements

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Must have at minimum a high school diploma or equivalency.
• Must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in transit operations (or equivalent), with a working knowledge of safety, training, and customer relations.
• Must have a good work record.
• Must possess a valid Illinois driver's license.
• Must possess DOT certification.
• Must demonstrate intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Must possess strong transportation, planning, math, analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
• Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
• This role requires sitting for extended periods, working on a computer, and attending meetings.
• Sometimes this role requires standing for extended periods.
• Be able to lift objects weighing up to 10lbs.

Nice To Haves

• An associate degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
• Labor relations experience is preferred.
• Commercial Driver's License, Class B with an air brake endorsement is preferred with a good driving record.
• An understanding of the Intelligent Bus System is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and conducting annual performance reviews of Transportation Section employees.
• Preparing documentation for issuance and handling of discipline.
• Monitoring absenteeism program and prepares daily operation reports including payroll exception tickets.
• Performing other duties as assigned.
