About The Position

The Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach for Football will assist football and Olympic sport coaches with facility scheduling, workout design and implementation, and athlete attendance. This role involves organizing and directing workouts for football student-athletes, including flexibility, lifting technique, running technique, plyometrics, and testing/evaluation. The position also requires inputting athlete testing data and updated workout information, communicating with sports medicine staff about injuries and rehabilitation, and engaging with potential student-athletes during recruiting visits to discuss the program and facilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in exercise science or related field required.
  • Certification by the NSCA, CSCCa, and/or USA weightlifting.
  • One year experience in participation of high school, collegiate level, or professional level in strength and conditioning.
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations required.

Nice To Haves

  • One year at the collegiate or professional level preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist football and Olympic sport coaches regarding facility scheduling, designing and implementing workouts and athlete attendance.
  • Organize and direct workouts including flexibility, lifting technique, running technique, plyometrics, testing and evaluation for football student athletes.
  • Input athlete testing data.
  • Input updated student-athlete's speed, strength and conditioning workouts.
  • Communicate daily with the sports medicine staff regarding athlete injuries and rehabilitation procedures.
  • Communicate with potential student-athletes during recruiting visits to the University of Akron campus about the speed, strength and conditioning program and facilities.
