About The Position

The Strength & Conditioning Coach is responsible for developing and implementing safe, effective, and age-appropriate strength, conditioning, speed, agility, and injury-prevention programs for middle school and high school student-athletes across all athletic programs. This role supports the physical development, athletic performance, discipline, and overall wellness of student-athletes while promoting a Christ-centered culture of effort, accountability, leadership, and personal growth. The Coach will work collaboratively with athletic leadership and sport coaches to support year-round athlete development and program consistency. The position is expected to oversee approximately three (3) training sessions per week during designated training periods and athletic seasons.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • CPR/First Aid/AED certification required (or ability to obtain prior to beginning duties).
  • Strong understanding of: Strength and conditioning principles, Speed and agility development, Injury prevention techniques, Safe lifting practices.
  • Ability to motivate and lead student-athletes effectively and positively.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Profess and demonstrate a personal commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
  • Exhibit a consistent Christian testimony and adherence to biblical principles in personal and professional life.
  • Demonstrate spiritual maturity, humility, and a strong commitment to excellence and servant leadership

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Sports Performance, or related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in strength and conditioning, athletic performance training, coaching, or related field preferred.
  • Experience working with middle school and/or high school athletes preferred.
  • Strength and conditioning certification preferred, including: CSCS, NASM, USAW, ACE, or equivalent nationally recognized certification.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement structured strength and conditioning programs for middle school and high school student-athletes.
  • Develop age-appropriate training focused on: Strength, Speed and agility, Mobility and flexibility, Conditioning and endurance, Injury prevention.
  • Instruct and demonstrate proper lifting techniques, movement patterns, and equipment usage.
  • Adapt workouts appropriately based on athlete age, experience, and sport-specific goals.
  • Foster a culture of discipline, accountability, teamwork, and work ethic.
  • Encourage healthy lifestyle habits and overall physical wellness.
  • Monitor athlete progress and adjust training programs as needed.
  • Support multi-sport athlete development and long-term athletic growth.
  • Ensure safe use of equipment and adherence to all safety procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe training environment.
  • Monitor athletes during workouts to ensure proper supervision and technique.
  • Report equipment issues, injuries, or safety concerns promptly.
  • Collaborate with coaches and athletic leadership regarding training priorities and athlete needs.
  • Support offseason, preseason, and in-season athletic development initiatives.
  • Communicate effectively with student-athletes, coaches, and families as appropriate.
  • Model Christ-centered leadership, integrity, humility, and servant-heartedness.
  • Encourage student-athletes in their spiritual, physical, and personal growth.
  • Foster a positive and encouraging environment that reflects the mission and values of Lenawee Christian School.
