Assistant Store Manager - Tower City, Cleveland, OH
About The Position
The Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in daily retail store operations, working to maximize sales and profitability through merchandising execution, expense and inventory management, team training and development, human resources support, and outstanding customer service. The role is responsible for staff quality and performance, compliance with company policies, and helping the store meet budget and shrink goals. The position requires a flexible schedule that may include days, nights, weekends, and holidays, with a standard work week not exceeding 40 hours. The employee may work in multiple stores within the assigned district.
Requirements
- At least one year of retail management experience.
- Solid knowledge of business and excellent command of English for effective communication with management, associates, and customers.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including poise, tact, and diplomacy in sensitive or confidential situations.
- Ability to think strategically, plan, and organize effectively.
- Professionalism in all situations.
- Analytical ability to gather and summarize data, solve administrative problems, and prioritize work.
- Results-driven, with critical and creative thinking, project management, time management, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Ability to exercise discretion, maintain confidentiality, and use independent judgment, compassion, and diplomacy.
- Ability to plan, organize, multitask, set priorities, and respond proactively to changing demands from multiple sources.
- Ability to execute directives with precision and consistency.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- Willingness to work in multiple stores in the assigned district.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work extended hours during critical project phases and in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Reliable transportation.
- Willingness to travel by car, plane, or train.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the quality and performance of retail store staff.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Model effective leadership to build commitment to store goals and training standards.
- Assist with recruiting, selecting, training, and developing store personnel.
- Assist the Store Manager with annual employee performance evaluations and provide feedback.
- Assist with expense management and develop strategies to help stores meet budget expectations.
- Help monitor and identify loss or inventory inconsistencies and support achievement of shrink goals at or below company plan.
- Monitor and control operational compliance, safety, and business standards.
- Support training in suggested selling and merchandising techniques.
- Uphold company customer service standards and provide a friendly environment for customers.
- Assist with accurate and regular merchandise inventory counts.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
