About The Position

The Assistant Store Manager assists the Store Manager with the daily operations of a retail store, supporting maximum sales and profitability through merchandising execution, expense and inventory management, team training and development, human resources management, and outstanding customer service. The role is responsible for the quality and performance of retail staff, policy compliance, operational standards, and helping the store achieve its sales, budget, and shrink goals. The standard work week does not exceed 40 hours. A flexible schedule is required, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays. The employee must be willing to work in multiple stores in the assigned district and travel by car, plane, or train.

Requirements

At least one year of retail management experience.
Solid knowledge of business and excellent command of English for communicating effectively with management, associates, and customers.
Strong interpersonal skills, including poise, tact, and diplomacy when handling sensitive and confidential situations.
Ability to think strategically and plan and organize effectively.
Ability to maintain professionalism in all situations.
Proficient analytical ability to gather and summarize data, resolve administrative problems, and prioritize work.
Results-driven, with critical and creative thinking, project management, time management, analytical, and organizational skills.
Ability to exercise discretion, maintain confidentiality, and use independent judgment, compassion, and diplomacy.
Ability to plan, organize, multitask, set priorities, and respond proactively to changing demands from multiple sources.
Ability to execute directives with precision and consistency.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
Willingness to work in multiple stores in the assigned district.
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work extended hours during critical project phases and in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Reliable transportation.
Willingness to travel by car, plane, or train.

Responsibilities

Support the overall quality and performance of retail store staff.
Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
Model effective leadership to gain commitment to store goals and training standards.
Assist with recruiting, selecting, training, and developing store personnel.
Assist the Store Manager with annual performance evaluations and provide feedback.
Assist with expense management and develop strategies to help stores perform within budget.
Help monitor and identify loss or inventory inconsistencies so the store meets shrink goals at or below company plan.
Monitor and control operational compliance, safety, and business standards.
Support training employees in suggested selling and merchandising techniques.
Uphold customer service standards and provide a friendly environment where customers receive outstanding service.
Assist in completing accurate and regular merchandise inventory counts.
Perform other duties as assigned.
