About The Position

The Assistant Store Manager supports store operations, customer service, and team development. The role assists with day-to-day store activities, helps customers, maintains merchandise and store presentation, performs opening and closing procedures as needed, and processes corporate directives. The Assistant Store Manager also supports ordering and handling merchandise, store record keeping, loss prevention, asset protection, and adherence to company policies and safety guidelines. The position helps the Store Manager supervise, train, and develop associates and contributes to a clean, safe, respectful, and customer-friendly store environment. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

Ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives, such as merchandise schematics.
Ability to lift up to 55 pounds from floor to above shoulder height and meet the demands of frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent.
Store management experience in a retail, grocery, or drug store environment.

Responsibilities

Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities.
Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address their questions or concerns.
Help organize and transfer merchandise from delivery trucks to the stockroom and sales floor, and maintain seasonal areas.
Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
Process corporate directives, including Pull and Hold/Destroy, Task Compliance, Key Survey information requests, and other store-related communications.
Maintain the promotional effectiveness of storefront fixtures and displays.
Assist with merchandise ordering, damaged merchandise processing, record keeping, payroll, scheduling, cash register deposits and receipts, and loss prevention.
Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom according to company standards.
Protect and secure company assets, including store cash.
Follow company policies and safety guidelines, and ensure store associates follow company policies and procedures.
Help the Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
Promote a positive, safe, and respectful environment and maintain professional, friendly interactions with customers, associates, and leaders.
Maintain store cleanliness, including cleaning and restocking bathrooms, sweeping and mopping floors, taking out trash, and keeping all areas neat and presentable.
Perform other duties as assigned.
