About The Position

The Assistant Store Manager plays a crucial role in the day-to-day operations of the store, supporting the Store Manager in achieving sales and income budget expectations while managing expenses to maximize profitability. This position is also responsible for creating a positive and mentoring environment for program participants, implementing effective Work Therapy Assignments, and ensuring beneficiaries stay on track. The role involves direct customer interaction, managing personnel, and overseeing store security and safety protocols.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years previous Retail Management/Supervisory experience (thrift preferred).
  • Basic understanding of office applications, including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Must hold a valid Driver's license, able to pass MVR report, able to show proof of insurance and have access to a motor vehicle.
  • Must pass background check, which will include Criminal History and Sex Offender Registry.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with management, store employees, customers and donors.

Responsibilities

  • Takes an active role and partners with the Store Manager in the day-to-day operation of the store, including opening and closing procedures, point of sale operations, inventory management and rotation, ARC merchandising standards, and donations.
  • Assumes responsibility for all day-to-day store operations, including personnel and cash handling duties, in the absence of the Store Manager.
  • Monitors and analyzes key performance indicators to drive store sales and increase profitability.
  • Schedules store employees to ensure appropriate coverage and coordinates daily team meetings.
  • Reviews and maintains accurate employee payroll records, including daily monitoring of time and attendance edits.
  • Assists with hiring, training, and directing the store team to ensure proficiency and provides development and performance coaching.
  • Communicates personnel issues and performance results with the Store Manager, and may issue disciplinary warnings or conduct evaluations.
  • Ensures high levels of customer and donor satisfaction through excellent service and maintains good community relations.
  • Supports the Store Manager in ensuring Back Room Processors/Warehouse Associates are working effectively to meet daily processing goals.
  • Supervises, supports, and reports on program beneficiaries when Work Therapy Assignments are in place.
  • Responsible for the protection and security of store currency, inventory, and property, including safe funds, bank deposits, products for sale, equipment, and building security.
  • Ensures the building is secured during non-operating hours with alarm system arming and alert protocol.
  • Assures that safety measures are established and maintained consistent with ARC policy and governmental regulations, and that safety issues and incidents are reported immediately.
  • Assists with conducting and recording mandatory Weekly Store Meetings and attends ARC Monthly Safety Meetings in the Store Manager's absence.
  • May transfer or be relocated to other stores based on business needs.
  • Completes all tasks as assigned by the District Sales Manager, Command Retail Directors, and Command Administration.
