About The Position

The Assistant Store Manager assists the Store Manager with daily retail store operations to support maximum sales and profitability. The role focuses on merchandising execution, expense and inventory management, team training and development, human resources activities, and outstanding customer service. The Assistant Store Manager helps uphold company policies, store goals, training standards, operational compliance, safety, and business standards. The work week is not to exceed 40 hours, and a flexible schedule is required, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays. The employee may work in multiple stores in the assigned district and must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel by car, plane, or train.

Requirements

At least one year of retail management experience.
Solid knowledge of business and excellent command of English to communicate effectively with management, associates, and customers.
Strong interpersonal skills, including poise, tact, and diplomacy when handling sensitive and confidential situations.
Ability to think strategically and plan and organize effectively.
Professionalism in all situations.
Analytical ability to gather and summarize data for reports, solve administrative problems, and prioritize work.
Results-driven approach, critical and creative thinking, project management, time management, analytical skills, and strong organizational skills.
Ability to exercise discretion, maintain confidentiality, and use independent judgment, compassion, and diplomacy.
Ability to plan, organize, multitask, set priorities, and respond proactively to changing demands from multiple sources.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
Willingness to work in multiple stores in the assigned district.
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work extended hours during critical project phases and in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with flexibility.
Reliable transportation.
Willingness to travel by car, plane, or train.

Responsibilities

Oversee the quality and performance of retail store staff.
Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
Model effective leadership to gain commitment to store goals and training standards.
Assist with recruiting, selecting, training, and developing store personnel.
Assist the Store Manager with annual performance evaluations and provide feedback.
Assist with expense management and develop strategies to help stores perform in accordance with budget.
Help monitor and identify issues related to store loss or inconsistencies, supporting shrink goals at or below company plan.
Monitor and control operational compliance, safety, and business standards.
Support employee training in suggested selling and merchandising techniques.
Uphold customer service standards and provide customers with a friendly environment and outstanding service.
Assist with accurate, regular merchandise inventory counts.
Perform other duties as assigned.
