About The Position

The Assistant Store Manager, referred to at Nike as an Assistant Head Coach, leads, coaches, and inspires the store team to deliver excellent customer experiences while helping team members feel included and supported. The role uses retail expertise to drive store growth strategies and strengthen community partnerships. It represents Nike’s culture of sport and brand, and ensures the team creates positive moments for customers and colleagues. This is a full-time, salaried position at the Nike Clearance Store in San Leandro, California. The annual base salary ranges from $76,800 to $115,200, with actual salary dependent on location, qualifications, skills, and experience.

Requirements

Four years of customer-facing retail or hospitality experience.
Three years of leadership experience.
Demonstrated ability to recruit, build, and lead high-performing teams.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and retail business systems.
Ability to bend, squat, reach, climb a ladder, and stand for extended periods, with or without reasonable accommodations.
Proven ability to use tools for conflict resolution and employee coaching and counseling.
Ability to work mornings, weekends, nights, and holidays as needed.

Responsibilities

Lead the store team and help ensure all store functions run seamlessly.
Attract, assess, and onboard team members to ensure the store is staffed.
Equip store employees with the tools needed for their day-to-day responsibilities.
Lead store business results and critical metrics, including budgeting, planning, customer service, sales, people leadership, and management.
Manage the product life cycle from the stockroom through visual merchandising and onto the sales floor.
Train the team and implement Nike Service Principles.
Support customer service and help customers make informed decisions.
Develop store growth strategies and create opportunities to build community partnerships.
Coach and inspire team members while fostering an inclusive and supportive environment.
