About The Position
The State Attorney’s Office, 15th Judicial Circuit, is currently accepting applications for an ASSISTANT STATE ATTORNEY for our LEGAL AFFAIRS AND APPEALS UNIT. This is an AT WILL POSITION. Requirements
- Law degree from an accredited law school
- Admittance and continued good standing with the Florida Bar
- Five (5) years of experience in criminal and/or civil litigation
- Excellent writing skills
- Working knowledge of the appellate process
Responsibilities
- Representing the State in postconviction matters, including claims of ineffective assistance of counsel, newly discovered evidence, and requests for postconviction DNA testing.
- Handling of Baker Act hearings (involuntary mental health commitments) on behalf of the state.
