About The Position

The assistant coach is responsible for supporting the head coach in providing the vision, and strategic planning in directing and supervising all activities related to the recruitment, teaching, training and skill development of scholar-athletes in preparation for intercollegiate competitions. The assistant coach is committed to the University's mission providing high-quality education to the student body to prepare students for entering the global workforce, seeking higher-education opportunities, and serving within their communities, and the athletic department's mission of developing athletes into scholars, champions, and leaders prepared to become global influencers in their relentless pursuit of greatness. The assistant coach will assist in conducting all program activities in compliance with all policies and guidelines established by the University, athletics department, the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) Division II, and the Sunshine State Conference (SSC).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent knowledge obtained through a combination of education, training and experience).
  • First Aid/CPR
  • Minimum 4-8 years of relevant work experience required in area of expertise including playing experience at the collegiate level.
  • Previous collegiate, club, high school head coaching or assistant coaching experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in evaluating and recruiting athletically talented and academically qualified scholar-athletes supporting the University's mission and philosophy in monitoring, overseeing, and supporting scholar-athletes' academic success.
  • Assist in providing a positive scholar-athlete experience centered on their physical and mental health in the organization and implementation of regular practice sessions and competitions in developing, instructing, and motivating scholar-athletes in fundamentals, techniques, and strategies to achieve a high-level performance individually and as a team.
  • Assist with coordination of administrative operations in adhering to all athletic and University policies and protocols, use of all athletic and university software and technology system, documentation, travel arrangements, equipment/supplies maintenance, orders, camp/clinic organization and implementation, and community service.
  • Assist with developing, implementing, and overseeing the sports operating budget provided by the university.
  • Develop fundraising activities and events to supplement the budget needs of the program.
  • Responsible for demonstrating a commitment to and complying with the policies and guidelines established by the NCAA, Sunshine State Conference (SSC), University, and Athletics Department for conducting all programs activities.
  • Demonstrate establishing positive, mutually respectful, and effective working relationships with scholar-athletes, coaches, administrators, faculty, alumni, and the public.
  • Other duties assigned by the Head Coach.
