About The Position

The Assistant Softball Coach supports the Head Coach in all aspects of operating a competitive NCAA Division I softball program. Responsibilities include coaching, recruiting, student-athlete development, and administrative duties, while ensuring compliance with NCAA, conference, and institutional regulations. The Assistant Coach is expected to contribute to a positive team culture, student-athlete success, and the overall mission of the Athletics Department.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and conducting team practices, training sessions, and competitions
  • Provide instruction in individual and team skill development
  • Contribute to scouting, film analysis, and game preparation
  • Support strength and conditioning initiatives in coordination with performance staff
  • Identify, evaluate, and recruit prospective student-athletes in alignment with program needs
  • Maintain communication with recruits, families, and coaches in accordance with NCAA rules
  • Assist in coordinating recruiting visits and events
  • Support the development and execution of the program’s recruiting strategy
  • Promote the academic success, retention, and graduation of student-athletes
  • Monitor academic progress and collaborate with academic support staff
  • Serve as a mentor and role model, supporting the personal development and well-being of student-athletes
  • Comply with all NCAA, conference, and University rules and regulations
  • Assist in maintaining accurate records related to recruiting, eligibility, and program operations
  • Promote a culture of compliance within the program
  • Support administrative functions such as travel coordination, scheduling, and equipment management
  • Assist the Head Coach with daily operations of the softball program
  • Collaborate with other staff members to ensure effective program management
  • Participate in camps, clinics, and other program-related activities
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Athletics Administration
