About The Position

Louisiana State University of Alexandria is seeking a Full Time Assistant Softball Coach to assist in the management and administration of all phases of a successful Softball program. This role is responsible for assisting in the athletic education/instruction, development/training and evaluation of student-athletes. The Assistant Coach will direct and manage student managers, recruit prospective student-athletes, and work closely with Sports Medicine staff and team physicians to ensure the safety and well-being of student-athletes. The position also involves developing a comprehensive knowledge of the sport, maintaining adherence to all applicable rules and regulations, assisting with field maintenance, and supporting the Head Softball Coach with travel arrangements and financial reconciliation.

Requirements

Valid driver license
A background check will be required of the successful applicant
1-2 Years’ softball coaching experience

Bachelor’s degree
3-4 years’ softball coaching experience
Strong organizational and communication skills
High ethical standards
Comprehensive computer skills including all Microsoft Office applications
Ability to operate within and enhance a team environment
Ability to self-start, be creative, show initiate, and meet established goals and deadlines
A working knowledge of NAIA rules and regulations
Coaching experience at the NAIA level
Collegiate and/or professional level playing experience

Responsibilities

Assisting in the athletic education/instruction, development/training and evaluation of student-athletes.
Directing and managing student managers, including delegation and prioritization of administrative responsibilities.
Searching and recruiting quality prospective student-athletes.
Working closely with Sports Medicine staff and team physicians to ensure the safety, health and well-being of the student-athletes.
Developing a comprehensive and functional knowledge of the sport and actively seeking to develop new performance methods and strategies.
Maintaining a thorough knowledge of and adherence to all applicable LSUA, Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) and National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) rules and regulations.
Working with the Head Softball coach and University Facilities to keep the maintenance of the field.
Assisting the Head Softball Coach with travel, booking hotels, securing charter buses and reconciliation of all receipts in workday.
Assisting with other duties/projects as assigned/directed.
