The Assistant Coach will carry out the aims and objectives of the sports program as outlined by the Head Coach. This role involves instructing athletes in individual and team fundamentals, strategy, and physical training necessary for achieving individual and team success. The position requires adherence to athletic policies, knowledge of existing system, state, and league regulations, and maintaining discipline and cooperation within the sports program. Administrative duties include assisting the Head Coach with scheduling, transportation, preparation for events, and coordinating with maintenance and school employees. The Assistant Coach is also responsible for providing necessary documentation, ensuring the safety and maintenance of equipment and facilities, and communicating with parents regarding player status. Program responsibilities include assisting the Head Coach, making announcements, instructing team members on rule changes and fundamentals, maintaining team statistics, and attending staff meetings and scouting assignments. The role also involves planning and implementing conditioning programs, supporting the Head Coach, and striving to improve skills through clinics and available resources. The Assistant Coach is accountable for all equipment, collecting costs for lost or unreturned items, arranging for issuing and storing equipment, and recommending budgetary items. They will monitor equipment rooms and coaches' offices, permit athlete access to authorized areas at appropriate times, examine locker rooms for cleanliness, and secure the building before leaving if custodians are not on duty. The Assistant Coach will instill in players respect for equipment and school property. The position supervises assigned athletes and assumes supervisory control over all athletes in the program when needed.
