About The Position

Railserve is hiring a safety-focused Assistant Site Leader in Fort Saskatchewan, AB to support daily operations at an industrial facility. This is a full-time leadership role responsible for assisting with site operations, team performance, and customer service while maintaining a strong focus on safety and efficiency. In this role, you will work closely with the Site Leader to oversee daily operations, support and develop employees, and ensure customer expectations are met. This position plays a key role in coordinating crews, maintaining safety standards, and supporting the overall success of the site. You will be responsible for both leadership and hands-on operational support across transloading, switching, and related rail services. If you are an experienced leader with a strong safety mindset and a background in industrial or rail operations, this role may be a great fit.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience required
  • Rail operations or industrial experience preferred
  • Crew Lead experience required for internal candidates
  • Strong communication and team leadership skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong safety mindset and attention to detail
  • Ability to work outdoors and in varying industrial environments

Nice To Haves

  • Rail operations or industrial experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Support Site Leader in managing day-to-day operations and ensuring contract requirements are met
  • Promote and maintain a strong safety culture across all operations
  • Train, coach, and develop employees on procedures, safety rules, and operational standards
  • Assist with workforce planning, scheduling, and crew assignments
  • Maintain positive customer relationships and ensure service expectations are met
  • Support cost control efforts including payroll, fuel, and equipment expenses
  • Assist with administrative duties including timekeeping, reporting, and performance tracking
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations (e.g., TDG, WHMIS)
  • Participate in safety programs, meetings, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Monitor and support equipment maintenance and preventive maintenance programs
  • Assist with operational processes related to transloading and facility systems
  • Support investigations, reporting, and resolution of incidents or operational issues
