Assistant Shop Manager
About The Position
Take 5 is hiring an Assistant Shop Manager to help oversee a shop and lead a team while delivering a hassle-free, stay-in-your-car oil change experience. The company provides training in its service procedures and shop operations, and welcomes applicants with different backgrounds and experience levels. The starting salary is $17.75–$21.00 per hour, with a $300 employee signing bonus and paid bi-weekly bonuses. The Assistant Shop Manager supports the Shop Manager and assumes the manager’s responsibility and authority when the Shop Manager is absent. The role combines customer service and team leadership with technician duties, including oil changes, vehicle maintenance services, payment processing, inventory upkeep, and maintaining a clean shop.
Requirements
- Reliable transportation.
- Ability to maneuver in and out of a shallow, 3-foot-deep pit.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to walk, stand, bend, stoop, twist, and perform activities involving holding, grasping, pulling, and turning for extended periods.
- Ability to work in hot or cold weather conditions.
- Remain alert and aware of surroundings.
- Gain a strong knowledge of the company’s oils and services.
Responsibilities
- Check in with customers before they leave to ensure they had a positive experience.
- Assume the responsibility and authority of the Shop Manager when the manager is absent.
- Run the shop floor by coordinating employee assignments, ensuring vehicle checks are completed, and confirming customers are satisfied before leaving.
- Perform opening and closing procedures.
- Assist with counting and adjusting inventory.
- Train and develop subordinate employees.
- Serve as a role model and hold team members accountable.
- Drain motor oil and change oil filters.
- Change engine air filters and cabin filters.
- Wash windshields and adjust tire pressure.
- Inspect and top off vehicle fluids.
- Assist customers in selecting oil types and other services.
- Process payment for services performed.
- Perform coolant exchanges and transmission drain-and-fill services.
- Restock inventory and maintain inventory levels on the floor.
- Maintain cleanliness of the shop, office, and bathroom.
