About The Position
Take 5 Oil Change is seeking a career-minded Assistant Shop Manager to help lead a fast-paced team on the shop floor. The role supports the Shop Manager with daily operations, team development, and a fast, friendly customer experience. The Assistant Shop Manager may serve as Manager on Duty, helping keep the team focused and the shop safe, efficient, and running smoothly. Paid, hands-on training is provided to teach the technical skills and service standards needed for the role; automotive experience is valued but not required. This is an active, hands-on position in a fast-paced automotive service environment. Crew members must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, maneuver safely in and out of a shallow three-foot-deep pit to position themselves under vehicles, and perform activities such as walking, standing, bending, stooping, twisting, holding, grasping, pulling, and turning for extended periods. Work may take place in hot or cold weather when necessary.
Requirements
- At least 6 months of customer service experience in a fast-paced service environment, delivering consistent and exceptional customer service.
- At least 6 months of experience leading, coaching, or mentoring others in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to following and maintaining facility and safety control policies and practices.
- Strong communication skills and comfort providing direction, coaching, and feedback to team members.
- Initiative, accountability, and follow-through on responsibilities.
- Ability to remain calm, organized, and solutions-focused during busy periods.
- Ability to meet applicable age and certification requirements, including Inspector Certification when required.
- Reliable transportation to and from the work location.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to maneuver safely in and out of a shallow three-foot-deep pit and perform physical activities for extended periods.
- Ability to work in hot or cold weather conditions when necessary.

- Automotive experience is valued but not required.
Responsibilities
- Complete Certified Technician training.
- Serve as Manager on Duty when needed by coordinating workflow and helping the team deliver safe, efficient, high-quality service.
- Model fast, friendly customer service, respond to customer needs, and resolve concerns professionally.
- Ensure services are completed accurately and consistently while reinforcing company procedures, safety requirements, and service standards.
- Support shop performance by identifying opportunities for improvement and taking on additional leadership responsibilities when the Shop Manager is unavailable.
- Train new team members, provide real-time coaching and feedback, reinforce expectations, and recognize strong performance.
- Perform all Certified Technician and Lead Technician responsibilities.
- Complete opening and closing procedures.
- Assist with daily inventory counts and adjustments.
- Support shop communication, reporting, and operational follow-up.
