About The Position

The Assistant Shop Manager will assist the Shop Manager in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the equipment maintenance and repair shop. This includes coordinating and scheduling maintenance and repair activities for heavy equipment, trucks, and vehicles to ensure timely completion and minimal downtime. The role involves supervising and guiding shop technicians, managing inventory levels of parts and supplies, troubleshooting equipment issues, and collaborating with other departments. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in equipment maintenance, repair, or a related field
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of heavy equipment, trucks, and vehicle systems and components
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage competing priorities effectively
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and engage team members
  • Proficiency with computer systems and software applications for inventory management and maintenance tracking
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures related to equipment maintenance and repair
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and respond to after-hours emergencies as needed

  • Additional technical or management training preferred
  • Supervisory experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Shop Manager in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the equipment maintenance and repair shop.
  • Coordinate and schedule maintenance and repair activities for heavy equipment, trucks, and vehicles to ensure timely completion and minimal downtime.
  • Supervise and provide guidance to shop technicians, ensuring that work is performed safely, efficiently, and according to company standards and procedures.
  • Manage inventory levels of parts, supplies, and equipment, and maintain accurate records of stock levels, usage, and orders.
  • Assist with troubleshooting equipment issues, diagnosing problems, and implementing effective solutions.
  • Collaborate with other departments and project teams to prioritize equipment needs and support project requirements.
  • Conduct regular inspections of equipment and facilities to identify maintenance needs and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Assist with training and development of shop personnel, promoting a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
