About The Position

Take 5 Oil Change is seeking a career-minded Assistant Shop Manager to help lead a fast-paced automotive service team. The role supports the Shop Manager with daily operations, team development, and a fast, friendly customer experience. The Assistant Shop Manager may serve as Manager on Duty, helping coordinate workflow and maintain a safe, efficient, smoothly operating shop. Paid, hands-on training is provided; automotive experience is valued but not required.

This is an active, hands-on position in an automotive service environment. Team members must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, maneuver safely in and out of a shallow 3-foot-deep pit to position themselves under vehicles, and perform physical activities for extended periods. Work may take place in hot or cold weather as necessary.

Requirements

• At least 6 months of customer service experience in a fast-paced service environment, delivering consistent and exceptional customer service.
• At least 6 months of experience leading, coaching, or mentoring others in a fast-paced environment.
• Commitment to following and maintaining facility and safety control policies and practices.
• Strong communication skills and comfort providing direction, coaching, and feedback to team members.
• Initiative, accountability, and follow-through on responsibilities.
• Ability to remain calm, organized, and solutions-focused during busy periods.
• Ability to meet applicable age and certification requirements, including Inspector Certification when required.
• Reliable transportation to and from the work location.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and maneuver safely in and out of a shallow 3-foot-deep pit.
• Ability to walk, stand, bend, stoop, twist, hold, grasp, pull, and turn for extended periods, and work in hot or cold weather when necessary.

• Automotive experience is valued but not required.

Responsibilities

• Complete Certified Technician training.
• Serve as Manager on Duty when needed, coordinating workflow and helping the team deliver safe, efficient, high-quality service.
• Model fast, friendly customer service, respond to customer needs, and resolve concerns professionally.
• Ensure services are completed accurately and consistently while reinforcing company procedures, safety requirements, and service standards.
• Support shop performance by identifying opportunities for improvement and taking on additional leadership responsibilities when the Shop Manager is unavailable.
• Train new team members, provide real-time coaching and feedback, reinforce expectations, and recognize strong performance.
• Perform all Certified Technician and Lead Technician responsibilities.
• Complete opening and closing procedures.
• Assist with daily inventory counts and adjustments.
• Support shop communication, reporting, and operational follow-up.
