About The Position

United Schools (United) is a nonprofit organization in Columbus, Ohio, dedicated to transforming lives and communities through education. Since its first school in 2008, United has opened three more schools, operating as open enrollment, public charter schools focused on closing the opportunity gap. The mission is to provide students with a rigorous academic experience in a joyful learning environment, ensuring growth and success through intentional student support and continuous improvement. The Assistant School Director (ASD) position is an opportunity for passionate educators to help lead a United campus under the direction of the School Director. The ASD typically focuses on either Academics or Culture & Operations, with significant overlap. Academic-focused ASDs ensure thoughtful curriculum development, rigorous instruction and assessment, and manage instructional staff. Culture & Operations-focused ASDs lead school-based operations and culture teams, building and maintaining a positive school culture. Both roles utilize data to improve the school and serve students and families, operating with a constancy of purpose aligned with the mission and vision of United Schools.

Requirements

  • Holds a B.A./B.S. degree
  • At least five years of proven school leadership and teaching experience in urban settings
  • Emphasis on data-driven instruction and demonstrable gains in student achievement
  • Committed to using data-driven instructional practices and the techniques outlined in Teach Like a Champion 3.0 to improve student outcomes
  • Relentless in writing, refining, and internalizing curriculum, lessons, and assessments
  • Open and committed to implementing frequent feedback from team members
  • Communicates effectively with students, families, and colleagues
  • Comfortability with Google products for effective communication and completion of job responsibilities
