About The Position

This position involves instructing middle school students (6th, 7th, or 8th grade) in the fine arts, evaluating their progress, and expanding their access to art programming through partnerships with local organizations. The Art Teacher will collaborate with grade-level teams on special events, assemblies, classroom support, and family communication. Additionally, the role includes building relationships with students during lunch/recess and providing classroom coverage when general education teachers are absent. The Art Teacher will also work with colleagues and school leaders to implement feedback for professional growth and design rigorous curriculum to meet diverse learner needs.

Requirements

  • Holds a B.A./B.S. degree and has the ability to secure the appropriate teaching license.
  • Is committed to using data-driven instructional practices and the techniques outlined in Teach Like a Champion 3.0 to improve student outcomes.
  • Is relentless in writing, refining, and internalizing curriculum, lessons, and assessments.
  • Is open and committed to implementing frequent feedback from team members.
  • Communicates effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Comfortability with Google products for effective communication and completion of job responsibilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience working in urban schools and/or communities.
  • Experience facilitating school partnerships to improve art opportunities for students.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct students and evaluate their progress in producing, understanding, and appreciating the fine arts.
  • Collaborate with local organizations to expand student access to art programming.
