About The Position

This is a chance to serve as a senior operational finance leader at Foundation Academies, supporting the organization’s fiscal integrity, compliance, and strategic growth. As the Assistant School Business Administrator, you will play a central role in budget implementation, grant management, audit preparation, and financial reporting while ensuring strong internal controls and regulatory compliance. You will work closely with the Chief Operating & Finance Officer and School Business Administrator, providing financial guidance to school leadership and the Board of Trustees, and helping drive the organization’s long-term sustainability and mission of preparing scholars for college and career.

Requirements

  • Valid New Jersey School Business Administrator Certificate or eligibility
  • Strong financial management, operational leadership, and analytical skills
  • Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders
  • Proactive, solutions-oriented mindset and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to maintain integrity, exercise sound judgment, and handle confidential information
  • Experience or comfort with budgeting, grants management, audits, and compliance
  • Commitment to the mission of preparing scholars for college and career and to fostering positive relationships across departments
  • Pass required background checks and provide proof of U.S. citizenship or legal residency

Responsibilities

  • Support the development, execution, and monitoring of the annual organizational budget
  • Prepare monthly budget-to-actual reports with clear variance analysis and actionable insights
  • Manage financial oversight of federal, state, and private grants, ensuring compliance with funding restrictions
  • Monitor cash flow, receivables, and debt service obligations, supporting liquidity and financial forecasting
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and GASB accounting standards and assist with annual audit preparation
  • Maintain strong internal controls across purchasing, payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable processes
  • Support vendor contract management, insurance renewals, and financial oversight of capital projects
  • Prepare financial materials, dashboards, and summaries for the Board of Trustees and Finance Committee
  • Translate complex financial data into clear insights for leadership and trustees
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial systems, reporting, and operational efficiency
