This role is responsible for supporting the site implementation of the Safety Management System Plan, comprehensive safety policies, procedures, and tools to enhance compliance with corporate direction in efforts to reduce accidents/injuries in the workplace. The position involves monitoring compliance with SMS policies and procedures, conducting ongoing safety auditing of maintenance facilities, shop practices, and fleet maintenance activities. It also ensures all relevant statutory and regulatory safety policies are applied and adhered to, including those specific to maintenance operations (lockout/tagout, hazardous materials, PPE, equipment safety, etc.). The role collaborates with maintenance leadership and Operations to ensure safe execution of preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs, and to maintain a safety partnership dialog. Weekly facility inspections are conducted to identify hazards, environmental risks, and unsafe conditions, ensuring timely corrective action. The position also involves reporting all accident and incident claims, providing support to safety department leadership with updating departmental documentation, and managing automotive claims related to vehicle accidents/passenger-related incidents.
