About The Position

The Assistant Residential Manager serves as an integral part of the residential leadership team in a residential school program. This role provides supervision and oversight to staff members, promoting active programming during evening and weekend shifts. The Assistant Residential Manager facilitates essential communication and feedback to the House Manager and exercises considerable independent judgment and initiative in ensuring the implementation of quality training and service plan delivery in the residence.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must have (2) years’ experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and hold the position of a DSP II.
  • Must complete the SUNY Core (if employee does not have an Associate’s Degree or greater).
  • Must complete Springbrook Manager Training Program.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule.
  • Duties require professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in or knowledge of using a variety of computer software and e-mail applications, especially Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word; have the aptitude to learn other computer software as necessary.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. independently and assist in lifting weights exceeding 50 lbs.
  • Meet the requirements to drive Springbrook vehicles as required.
  • Be able to perform all physical interventions.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree preferred (Associates required for Golisano Program).

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, train, and evaluate staff members in conjunction with the House Manager.
  • Plan and coordinate activities of shift including meals, recreational activities, ADLs, skill acquisition programs, money management, individualized resident schedules, documentation, and supporting students with challenging behavior.
  • Ensure that all staff thoroughly and accurately complete all required documentation each shift and facilitate the use of shift reports for information transfer between shifts.
  • Ensure active programming for all individuals receiving services, including completion of individual schedules, goals, and daily activities, and securing/preparing required materials.
  • Schedule, assign, and help maintain staff coverage on a 24/7 basis.
  • Oversee and filter calls to the Manager on Call system.
  • Act as a focal point for parent communication and ensure all staff act professionally during contact with families and outside parties.
  • Provide direct care to individuals receiving services, including medication administration.
  • Assist with medical appointments for individuals receiving services.
  • Serve as a resource for staff members, with comprehensive knowledge of Part 633 and 624 regulations, using this to guide staff efforts.
  • Supervise and oversee home visits and community experiences for individuals receiving services, including group trips.
  • Attend all required training, staff development programs, and staff meetings.
  • Assist with supervision and staff training as directed by the House Manager and/or Clinical Coordinator.
  • Understand Springbrook’s corrective action process.
  • Assist students and direct support professionals in the development and implementation of house rules.
  • Model best practices in training and instruction to students for direct support professionals and ensure reliable and consistent data collection.
  • Provide physical intervention and behavior support when needed.
  • Assist with vehicle safety and physical plant maintenance.
  • Attend meetings in place of the house manager when assigned.
  • Communicate shift reports and concerns to the house manager.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Benefits

  • Pay Ranges from $20.00 - $22.00 per hour depending on Experience and Qualifications.
