About The Position

Accenture Infrastructure & Capital Projects is seeking individuals who are driven to make a significant impact in the construction industry. This role is part of a team that develops and delivers essential infrastructure such as factories, grids, transit systems, and public facilities, with a focus on innovation, safety, and sustainability. The team combines real-world experience with digital technologies and AI to transform capital project planning, management, and execution. The specific role involves playing a key part in a complex, multi-jurisdictional bridge replacement project, reporting to the Resident Engineer. The Assistant Resident Engineer will provide support in field oversight, inspection, quality assurance, and contract administration throughout all construction phases. This includes foundation work, bridge deck placement, and roadway tie-ins. The position requires performing and overseeing daily inspections and quality assurance for bridge and roadway construction, verifying contractor work against approved plans and specifications, and coordinating with various stakeholders to resolve field issues and minimize delays. The role also involves assisting the Resident Engineer with contract change orders, reviewing contractor submittals and schedules, overseeing material testing, tracking contractor progress, preparing reports, and performing necessary calculations. Collaboration with Construction Management Consultants, including staking, materials testing, and environmental monitoring teams, is also a key aspect of the job. The work is performed onsite with clients and partners to foster strong client relationships, with an understanding that some in-person time is necessary for collaboration, learning, and relationship building. Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in civil engineering
  • 15 years of roadway/highway construction inspection and field engineering experience on major public works projects
  • 10 plus years of experience with Caltrans or Caltrans Local Assistance projects
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in bridge construction inspection

Nice To Haves

  • California Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of concrete and steel bridge materials, falsework, and shoring systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for coordination with contractors and public agencies
  • Proficiency in Caltrans construction documentation standards, E-builder/PMCS systems, and Microsoft Office
  • Experience as Assistant or Resident Engineer on bridge or river crossing projects
  • Ability to lead field inspection staff and make timely, technically sound field decisions
  • Familiarity with environmental compliance and stormwater management on Caltrans projects
  • Prior bridge or roadway work with Riverside County Transportation Department, RCTC, SGVCOG, LA Metro, Caltrans, OCTA, SANDAG, SBCTA, or Counties of San Bernardino, San Diego, Orange County or Los Angeles
  • Experience on tolling, smart corridor, or ITS-equipped roadway projects

Responsibilities

  • Perform and oversee daily inspection and quality assurance activities on bridge and roadway construction.
  • Verify contractor work for conformance with approved plans, specifications, and special provisions.
  • Coordinate with contractors, utilities, and public agencies to resolve field issues and minimize delays.
  • Support the Resident Engineer in preparing and negotiating contract change orders.
  • Review contractor submittents, RFI responses, and progress schedules.
  • Oversee and document testing and sampling of construction materials to ensure compliance.
  • Track contractor progress and prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports.
  • Perform or support calculations for grade, alignment, quantities, falsework, shoring, and structure components.
  • Assist in the preparation of pay estimates, project correspondence, and claims documentation.
  • Collaborate closely with Construction Management Consultants, including staking, materials testing, and environmental monitoring teams.
