About The Position

The Assistant Registrar plays a crucial role in the daily operations of the Registrar's office at Ranger College. This position serves as an information center for visitors and students, processes admission applications, and maintains accurate records for all current students. The Assistant Registrar is responsible for assisting with the transfer of coursework, implementing policy changes, and supporting faculty and staff in interpreting student record information. This role also involves significant use of computer systems for various administrative functions, including registration, grade processing, and report generation. Participation in campus events and other assigned duties are also part of the role.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of content-management software (POISE).
  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in an educational focus.
  • At least 2 years work-related experience.
  • Official transcripts are required upon employment.
  • Offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check as well as sufficient course enrollment and budget allocations.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an information center for visitors and students.
  • Process admission applications.
  • Communicate with admission applicants and students.
  • Maintain up-to-date records on all current students.
  • Assist with the transfer of coursework by evaluating and adding it to student transcripts.
  • Become aware of and implement changes in policies, regulations, and procedures.
  • Be knowledgeable about Ranger College's educational programs, teaching locations, instructors, and support staff.
  • Assist faculty and staff in interpreting student record information.
  • Assist in the preparation and dissemination of registration materials to remote teaching locations.
  • Assist in regular and late student registrations on campus and at branch campuses.
  • Utilize computer systems for registrations, change of schedules (drop/add), word processing, and other data handling functions.
  • Prepare and maintain class rolls, final grade and roll sheets.
  • Assist in gathering, verifying, and preparing statistics on enrollments, graduations, and contact hour production.
  • Assist in gathering, verifying, and preparing reports to federal, state, local, and other agencies.
  • Assist in the processing of student grades.
  • Post grades to and maintain the permanent record of each student.
  • Process class changes and drops.
  • Archive all inactive student records, teacher grade sheets, and other historically significant documents.
  • Maintain one copy of archived records in a secure vault off campus.
  • Prepare transcripts of student records upon written request in a timely manner.
  • Assist other office personnel in meeting deadlines.
  • Assist with Dual Credit registration, communication, and creating/maintaining student files.
  • Participate in campus events such as graduation preparation/ceremony and Ranger Round-up.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
