About The Position

The Assistant Ranch Foreperson contributes to and oversees ranch activities for assigned fryers and the fryer ranch. The role directs fryer grow-out, including ranch setup, brooding, temperature and ventilation management, mortality monitoring, vaccinations, and medications, to maintain high-quality conditions. It also involves maintaining ranch facilities, coordinating materials and service calls with maintenance, enforcing sanitation and disease-prevention practices, and responding to emergencies that may affect the chickens at any time. The Assistant Ranch Foreperson manages ranch production costs, keeps accurate records of ranch activities, and trains and delegates work to ranch personnel. The role enforces company safety and animal-welfare guidelines and may work at other ranches or complexes as needed. Company-provided housing is required, and the employee must respond to alarms and adverse conditions affecting the chickens.

Requirements

At least one year of chicken-raising experience.
Completion of the Chicken Grow Out Training Program.
Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Supervisory and leadership skills.
Good mathematical and organizational skills.
Good written and verbal communication skills in basic English.
Ability to move and lift 25 pounds.
Willingness and ability to live in company-provided housing and respond as needed to alarms and adverse conditions affecting the chickens.
Ability to work as scheduled or needed, including overtime, evenings, holidays, and weekends.
Ability to work at other ranches or complexes as needed.

Responsibilities

Contribute to and oversee ranch activities and functions for assigned fryers and the fryer ranch.
Direct fryer grow-out, including ranch setup, brooding, temperatures, ventilation, mortality, vaccinations, and medications.
Maintain ranch facilities and appearance, and coordinate needed materials and service calls with the maintenance department.
Follow and enforce sanitation procedures, monitor bird health, and report abnormalities to the Field Supervisor.
Respond responsibly to emergencies that could adversely affect the chickens, day or night.
Manage and control ranch production costs, including labor, fuel, supplies, utilities, medication, and maintenance.
Maintain accurate and complete records of ranch activities, including feed, mortality, fuel, production, and energy consumption.
Train ranch personnel and delegate duties.
Adhere to and enforce company safety, animal welfare, and disease-prevention guidelines.
Follow and enforce company standards, guidelines, and policies for anyone working on the ranch complex.
Work at other ranches or complexes as needed.
Maintain a clean and presentable ranch and dwelling.
