About The Position

The Assistant Ranch Drive On contributes to and assists the Ranch Manager in overseeing ranch activities and functions for assigned fryers and the fryer ranch. The role helps direct fryer grow-out, including ranch setup, brooding, temperature and ventilation management, mortality monitoring, vaccinations, and medications, to maintain high quality standards. The position helps maintain ranch facilities and appearance, coordinating with the maintenance department for materials and service calls. It requires following and enforcing sanitation procedures, monitoring bird health, reporting abnormalities, and responding responsibly to emergencies that could affect the chickens at any time. The Assistant Ranch Drive On also supports production-cost control, recordkeeping, staff training and task delegation, and enforcement of company safety, animal welfare, and disease-prevention guidelines. Other duties may be assigned by management. Additional pay is provided for hours worked between 7:00 p.m. and 11:59 p.m. ($1.00 per hour) and between 12:00 a.m. and 4:59 a.m. ($2.00 per hour).

Requirements

Must have completed the Chicken Grow Out Training Program.
Must be self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Must possess supervisory and leadership skills.
Must have good mathematical and organizational skills.
Must have good written and verbal communication skills in basic English.
Must be able to move and lift 50 pounds.
Must be willing and able to respond as necessary to alarms and adverse conditions affecting the chickens.
Must be able to work as scheduled or needed, including overtime, evenings, holidays, and weekends.
Must be able to follow and enforce company standards, guidelines, and policies for anyone working on the ranch complex.
Must be able to work at other ranches or complexes as needed.

Mechanical aptitude is preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist the Ranch Manager in overseeing ranch activities and functions for assigned fryers and the fryer ranch.
Help direct fryer grow-out, including ranch setup, brooding, temperature management, ventilation, mortality monitoring, vaccinations, and medications.
Maintain ranch facilities and appearance, and coordinate with the maintenance department for needed materials and service calls.
Follow and enforce sanitation procedures, monitor bird health, and report abnormalities to the Manager or Field Supervisor.
Respond responsibly to emergencies that could adversely affect the chickens, day or night.
Assist the Ranch Manager in managing and controlling ranch production costs, including labor, fuel, supplies, utilities, medication, and maintenance.
Maintain accurate and complete records of ranch activities, including feed, mortality, fuel, production, and energy consumption.
Assist the Ranch Manager in training ranch personnel and delegating duties.
Adhere to and enforce company safety, animal welfare, and disease-prevention guidelines.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
