The Assistant Racing Secretary will handicap horses by assigning weights based on factors like age, sex, total winnings, and distances of races won. This position also involves conferring with track management on race types and purses, reviewing applications for horse entry and training, accepting entries and fees, and registering persons with financial interests in horses. Additionally, the role includes reviewing racing information for publication, directing workers in compiling information and assigning stable space, recording official racing results, and updating ownership information. The Assistant Racing Secretary will also observe races to assess horse ability and form, verify entries, and confirm handicap weights.
