About The Position

The Assistant Superintendent role may be assigned as the sole superintendent to small projects, larger projects during final stages of a project’s close-out, or assigned as the sole superintendent to projects during off-hour work shifts. This role is responsible for performing safety audits and leads all safety measures of a project including the trades and subcontractors. They may provide direct supervision of hourly field employees in areas such as carpentry, concrete, and general labor. The Assistant Superintendent is responsible for assuring hourly labor timesheets are completed accurately and on time, and for maintaining knowledge of miscellaneous materials required for safety efforts and self-performed work, coordinating procurement through field office staff. This role is also responsible for accurately producing and distributing Daily Reports, maintaining awareness of shop drawing information, and overseeing correct installations based on contract documents and shop drawings/submittals. Additionally, the Assistant Superintendent will assist in the implementation and ongoing execution of the Quality Assurance Program, schedule work activities by producing look-ahead schedules, and work with the project team to update or create the project master schedule. Participation in jobsite subcontractor and Owner/Architect/Contractor meetings is required to stay informed about the schedule and potential changes to the work. The role also includes completing assigned and required training.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in Construction Management or related field.
  • Completion of a trade school or apprenticeship program in a related job field.
  • Three (3) years of work experience in a related job field.
  • Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Familiarity with site requirements, tools, methods, and materials covering the full range of trade divisions.
  • Ability to plan, schedule, and organize tasks while completing work within established deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly motivated, passionate, and creative team player with ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with all levels including internal and external partners.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of health and safety laws.
  • Outstanding decision-making skills.
  • Basic computer knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Project, as well as, Procore and Building Information Modeling (BIM).
  • Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Prior experience as a construction foreman or equivalent role.
