About The Position

McShane Construction Company is looking for an Assistant Project Superintendent! As assistant project superintendent you’ll play a key role in the successful execution of building projects. The assistant project superintendent is responsible for assisting with on-site supervision, ensuring safety compliance, coordinating subcontractors, and supporting project timelines and budgets.

Requirements

  • Poses a solid understanding of construction methods, safety regulations (OSHA), and building codes.
  • Proficient in reading drawings, site plans, and technical drawings.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to solve problems, multitask, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Basic computer skills, with proficiency in construction management software.
  • Willingness to work the hours necessary to complete the project on time. Work hours are not the typical 8-5. Work hours may include early mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed to meet project deadlines.
  • 3+ years’ experience in Construction Management
  • Ability to effectively communicate with clients, design consultants and trade partners.
  • Fully proficient with construction management software including Salus, PlanGrid and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Full-time, in-office position.
  • Must live within one hour of Rosemont, IL. Relocation will not be offered for this position.
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License required.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Superintendent in overseeing daily construction site operations and activities.
  • Coordinate and monitor subcontractor and supplier performance to ensure compliance with project specifications and schedules.
  • Enforce safety protocols and company policies to maintain a secure work environment for all personnel. Perform regular safety audits as outlined by McShane Construction
  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure work quality, cleanliness, and adherence to plans and standards.
  • Support the Project Superintendent in holding site meetings, maintaining logs, and documenting site progress.
  • Facilitate timely delivery and storage of materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Identify and report potential issues, risks, or discrepancies to the Project Superintendent promptly.
  • Develop quality control correction list in construction management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Assist with the implementation of project schedules and adjust as directed to address project needs.
  • Foster positive relationships with clients, architects, engineers, and inspectors on site.
