About The Position

RQ Construction is seeking an Assistant Project Managers (APMs) to join our Field Operations team for work in Norfolk, Virginia, on an active military base. As an Assistant Project Manager, you will play a key role in supporting construction projects throughout the entire project lifecycle-from preconstruction planning through project closeout. This position assists with project coordination, scheduling, documentation, communication, budgeting, and overall project execution to help ensure successful project delivery. Based on project scope and complexity, Assistant Project Managers may work alongside a Project Manager on large-scale projects, take responsibility for specific project phases under supervision, or independently manage smaller projects. This position requires relocation to active project sites to support on-site project management activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field required; equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a Project Engineer position required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and internet-based applications required
  • CPR, First Aid, and OSHA 30 certifications required

Nice To Haves

  • Four or more years of experience in construction, project management, or a related industry preferred
  • Experience with construction management software such as Primavera P3/P6, Viewpoint, BIM, or Revit is preferred
  • LEED Green Associate and Quality Control Manager (QCM) certifications are a plus
  • Company-sponsored training may be available for CPR, First Aid, and OSHA 30 certifications

Responsibilities

  • Supporting construction projects throughout the entire project lifecycle-from preconstruction planning through project closeout.
  • Assisting with project coordination, scheduling, documentation, communication, budgeting, and overall project execution to help ensure successful project delivery.
  • Working alongside a Project Manager on large-scale projects, taking responsibility for specific project phases under supervision, or independently managing smaller projects.
  • Relocating to active project sites to support on-site project management activities.
