About The Position

City Light & Power (CLP) is seeking an Assistant Project Manager with field or construction experience to join their growing team in Denver, Colorado. This role supports active electrical infrastructure projects from planning through closeout, working closely with Project Managers, engineers, contractors, and field crews. It offers hands-on coordination with exposure to construction execution, schedules, and costs, and is an opportunity to play a key role in delivering high-impact infrastructure projects, particularly for new federal contracts. CLP is a nationally recognized electric utility infrastructure company with over 45 years of experience in mission-critical power systems for federal and military clients, utilizing an integrated design-build delivery model. The role is within CLP’s Construction Project Management Office (PMO), which emphasizes strong project controls, contractor oversight, and disciplined execution in regulated federal environments. Requirements

  • Two-four (2-4) years of experience with industrial/commercial building construction, materials, systems, field work or similar is required.
  • Detail oriented with strong documentation and reporting skills.
  • Organized, Problem-Solver with ability to multitask.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, and other Microsoft Office products.
  • Must have excellent analytical, organizational, oral, and written communication skills.
  • You must be a US citizen or have permanent work authorization.
  • You will be required to obtain Military Base Access Security Clearance.
  • A valid driver’s license required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related field highly preferred.
  • Previous related work experience may substitute.
  • Previous experience with federal government contracting or federal construction activities is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with compiling and distributing reports on all project phases and financial performance.
  • Cultivate and maintain effective relations with the Client, project team, engineers, subcontractors, and field personnel.
  • Support the Project Manager with developing the budget, schedule, and construction service plans for various elements of the project.
  • Travel to the project site as needed to monitor project activities.
  • Attend project meetings including pre-award, pre-construction, project progress and final close-out.
  • Work closely with project management team to identify and allocate resources, including personnel and materials.
  • Monitor progress, tracking timelines and construction activities according to schedule.
  • Participate in and monitor the procurement process, cost control, and change management systems.
  • Perform field inspections to verify quality and accuracy of construction.
  • Uphold the core safety values of the company and collaborate with the EH&S Director to effectively communicate and enforce safety standards.
