About The Position

This role provides critical support to the senior project management team, specifically focusing on the successful execution of electrical construction projects. The Assistant Project Manager (APM) serves as a bridge between field management, ownership, and project leadership. The ideal candidate is a proactive coordinator who can manage the administrative and technical "gears" of a project. They must ensure that schedule requirements, budget constraints, and quality standards are met through rigorous tracking and cross-team collaboration.

Requirements

  • At least 3+ years of project management experience specifically within the electrical construction industry.
  • Experience in mission-critical data center construction is highly preferred.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or a related field is preferred.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license appropriate for the role and be eligible to operate a motor vehicle in accordance with applicable laws.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in a professional work environment, including preparing written reports and documentation, conveying information clearly to team members, clients, and stakeholders, and responding appropriately to verbal and written communications related to job duties.
  • Must be able to walk, stand, stoop, twist, bend, and climb stairs or ladders for extended periods while navigating uneven, unpaved, or obstructed terrain.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Must be able to drive between job sites and access all areas of an active construction zone, including raised platforms, scaffolding, and confined spaces.
  • Must be able to tolerate exposure to outdoor weather conditions, dust, and construction-related noise, vibrations, and odors.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with contractors, engineers, and site personnel, and maintain situational awareness in high-activity environments.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety vests, hearing protection, and steel-toe boots, is required.
  • Must have sufficient visual acuity to read drawings, specifications, and safety signage, and to observe site activity.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in mission-critical data center construction is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the RFI process, submittals, quantity takeoffs, and material tracking.
  • Initiating and tracking change orders via logs and acting as the liaison between field teams and the owner regarding scope changes.
  • Assisting in the creation and enforcement of project budgets and the submission of the Schedule of Values (SOV).
  • Providing close support and oversight for third-tier subcontractors to ensure alignment with project goals.
  • Supporting the Quality Control team through construction and commissioning while maintaining NFPA 70E or OSHA standards.
  • Leading the closeout process to ensure all required documentation is finalized and submitted to the owner.
