About The Position

Slifco Electric is a premier electrical contracting firm serving the Automotive, Heavy Industrial, and Mission Critical sectors. We specialize in both ground-up construction and major renovations, managing electrical packages ranging from small service work to multi-million-dollar installations. We’re looking for a motivated Assistant Project Manager (APM) who is ready to take the next step in their career in electrical construction project management. This role provides hands-on exposure to both estimating and project execution, working alongside experienced Project Managers on projects ranging from small service work to multi-million-dollar electrical installations. As an Assistant Project Manager, you will support Project Managers throughout the full project lifecycle — from bidding and preconstruction through execution and closeout. You’ll gain real-world experience managing costs, schedules, documentation, and client relationships while helping ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and profitably.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer systems.
  • Willingness to learn, take initiative, and grow professionally.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced construction environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with BIM or virtual modeling tools.
  • Experience in electrical construction or industrial projects.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the bidding and estimating process, including pre-bid meetings and site walk-throughs.
  • Support preparation of bid proposals including labor, materials, subcontractors, and project costs.
  • Assist with contract review, scope confirmation, and negotiations.
  • Participate in internal and external project meetings.
  • Support communication with clients, customers, and General Contractors.
  • Assist with project administration including: Submittals, Purchase orders, Subcontracts, Contract revisions and documentation control.
  • Help establish and maintain project schedules and milestones.
  • Assist in tracking, forecasting, and managing project costs to maximize profitability.
  • Support resolution of delays, scope changes, and cost impacts.
  • Monitor and report project progress, financials, and overall status.
  • Work alongside Project Managers, General Foremen, and Superintendents to support field execution.
  • Assist with manpower planning and material flow coordination.
  • Support safety compliance efforts alongside Slifco’s Safety Director.
  • Learn and develop strong client and relationship management skills.
