About The Position

The Assistant Program Director works with the Program Director to oversee the day-to-day services of the Compass Urgent Accommodation Voucher (CUAV) program. This role involves responding to emergency situations, supervising CUAV staff, managing administrative tasks, program design and implementation, and providing direct client support. The Assistant Director will work across multiple sites to support the needs of clients and staff. The CUAV program provides temporary emergency hotel rooms for families and pregnant people in crisis, and connects them with services and a path to stable housing.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years relevant experience in social work or a related field required.
  • Deep understanding of issues facing homeless and low-income families.
  • Experience with deescalation and working with people in crisis.
  • Strong interpersonal, listening and communication skills.
  • Outstanding work habits: organized, reliable, team-oriented.
  • Ability to work independently as well as to inspire and lead a committed team.
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.) and Zoom.
  • Deep commitment to and demonstrated success discussing, integrating, and promoting diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging throughout a complex and dynamic organization.

Nice To Haves

  • Salesforce experience a plus.
  • Previous supervisory experience is strongly preferred.
  • Candidates who speak fluent Spanish are especially encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support case managers and other staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, stepping in with tough client situations or lapses in coverage, supporting professional development, and evaluating performance.
  • Implement program policies equitably; deescalate and appropriately follow-up with clients when needed.
  • Build and cultivate collaborative community partnerships, including with funders.
  • Strengthen partnership and effective communication with partnership hotels and staff; respectfully advocate on behalf of clients and staff when necessary.
  • Assist with coordinating intakes, transfers and discharges.
  • Represent the CUAV program in both internal and external meetings; offer shelter perspective on behalf of shelter clients and shelter staff.
  • Manage the CUAV program, in partnership with the Day Shift Assistant Program Director, in the absence of the Program Director.
