About The Position

The Department of Criminal Justice at New Mexico State University invites applications for one tenure-track Assistant Professor Position beginning August 16, 2027. Successful applicants must demonstrate the ability to contribute to the mission of the Department in teaching, research, and service. The specific responsibilities of the position include teaching 9 credit hours per semester of some combination of undergraduate and graduate courses online and on-campus from existing curriculum and new courses created in an applicant’s specialty area, student advising/mentoring, conducting scholarship/research, participating in university and community service.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Criminology, Criminal Justice, or closely related discipline by August 15, 2027.
  • ABDs may apply, but degree must be in hand by the start of employment
  • A J.D. alone is not sufficient for the position.
  • Research specialty in the area of criminology and criminal justice

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to teach a variety of criminal justice required courses, including but not limited to, quantitative research methods, policing, or cyber security/criminology at the graduate and undergraduate levels.
  • Ability to teach in other areas that enhance and/or complement current departmental strengths.
  • Potential for extramural funding.
