Emory University Center for Ethics The Center for Ethics is a university-wide center that works across the university teaching courses, conducting research, and developing public programming that engages the broader community. For more on the Center for Ethics, visit http://ethics.emory.edu/ Position summary: The role is envisioned as a position at the Assistant or Associate) Professor level with an appointment in the School of Medicine and/or another School and Department relevant to the candidates experience and expertise The salary range is 90K to 100K, with actual salary dependent on past work experience. The successful candidate will work full time with the bioethics and non-bioethics faculty in the Center for Ethics. The primary responsibilities of this on-campus position will involve teaching at the graduate and healthcare professional level (medicine, nursing, etc.), publishing research, and providing service to and/or developing programming for the Center, Emory University, and the greater community. The Center welcomes applicants with wide-ranging scholarly interests in bioethics, especially clinical ethics, the ethics of AI in health contexts, neuroethics, research ethics, and/or ethics of health disparities. There is no requirement for extramural funding for this position, but the Center supports the development of externally funded scholarship and encourages applications from those able and interested in securing extramural funding.

Nice To Haves

  • Terminal post-graduate degree (PhD, JD, MD, etc.) in a field related to bioethics
  • Demonstrated success in teaching and mentoring healthcare professionals and/or graduate students
  • Record of quality scholarship in bioethics

Responsibilities

  • Teaching ethics and bioethical issues in an integrated curriculum in the School of Medicine
  • Teaching core and elective courses in the Master of Arts in Bioethics (MAB)
  • Advising and Mentoring MAB graduate students and thesis/capstone projects
  • Pursuit of independent and collaborative scholarship
  • Development of programming on ethical challenges and promotion of public discourse
