About The Position

Western Kentucky University's Department of Communication Sciences & Disorders seeks a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track-eligible Assistant Professor to begin in the 2027–28 academic year. The faculty member will teach graduate courses, which may be offered on campus or online to support distance learning, and may also be assigned undergraduate instruction. Instruction modality will depend on teaching assignments.

The successful candidate will maintain an active program of research and scholarly productivity, including peer-reviewed presentations and publications, seeking research funding, and related scholarly activities. The position also involves keeping current with research trends in speech-language pathology and participating in service at the departmental, college, university, and professional levels. Duties may change according to departmental and institutional needs.

Requirements

• Ph.D. or Ed.D. (or ABD) in speech-language pathology or a related area.
• CCC-SLP.
• Hold or be eligible for Kentucky state licensure in speech-language pathology.
• Ability to engage in alternative modes of instructional delivery, which may include online distance-learning courses.

Responsibilities

• Teach graduate courses, which may be delivered on campus or online.
• Teach undergraduate courses as required.
• Maintain active research and scholarly productivity, including peer-reviewed presentations, journal publications, and efforts to secure research funding.
• Keep current with research trends and topics associated with speech-language pathology.
• Participate in service at the departmental, college, and university levels, as well as service to the profession.
