About The Position

The Department of Business Analytics and Information Systems (BASY) in the Harbert College of Business at Auburn University invites applications for two nine-month, tenure track positions at the rank of Assistant Professor. These nine-month positions are designed to support the College's Business Analytics and Information Systems degree programs. The effective date of employment will be August 2027. The Department of Business Analytics and Information Systems at the Harbert College of Business is home to the nationally ranked undergraduate program in Business Analytics and a thriving undergraduate, master's, and PhD program in Information Systems. The department also offers graduate certificates in Information Systems, Cyber Security Management, and Business Analytics. The faculty supporting these two programs consists of 15 tenure track faculty, five lecturers, two professors of practice, and one person dedicated to the professional development of business analytics and management information systems students. Our faculty have various research interests and publish in top-tier journals, such as Information Systems Research, Journal of Management Information Systems, Production and Operations Management, Manufacturing and Service Operations Management and European Journal of Information Systems. The department houses advanced computing infrastructure to support high-performance computing. The Harbert College of Business has a strong tradition of providing highly desirable graduates and generating knowledge that drives business thought and sustainable business practices. The college and its programs consistently rank among the nation’s best public undergraduate and graduate business programs. Harbert College has experienced steady enrollment growth in recent years and currently serves well over 6,000 undergraduate and graduate students through six academic departments offering eight undergraduate majors and multiple Masters and Ph.D. options. The college pioneered online graduate and executive education programs that are now ranked among the very best in the nation. The college has invested in building a nationally recognized faculty that moves forward through research, engages with industry, and delivers relevant and current instruction. Auburn University is classified as an R1, Very High Research University, by the Carnegie Foundation, generates large amounts of research funding, and has a growing number of endowed faculty chairs and professorships.

Requirements

  • An earned doctorate in Management Information Systems, Decision Sciences/Management Science, Business Analytics, or a closely related field upon start date
  • Evidence (or potential of the development) of a strong research record based primarily on Management Information Systems or Analytics
  • Evidence of the ability to teach various courses in Management Information Systems or Business Analytics programs at all levels, especially courses of a more technical nature
  • Excellent written, organizational, and communication skills
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of appointment and continue working legally for the term of employment
