About The Position

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (EECE) at the University of Memphis is hiring a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor beginning in August 2027. The successful candidate will establish an externally funded research program that addresses significant societal and technological challenges through electrical and computer engineering, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, mentor M.S. and Ph.D. students, contribute to curriculum development, and participate in departmental, college, and University service. The department prioritizes research that strengthens one or more of these areas: intelligent sensing and healthcare technologies; secure and trustworthy computing; sustainable energy and electrification; and next-generation computing, communications, and autonomous systems. Candidates should explain how their research addresses significant challenges, complements departmental strengths, supports interdisciplinary collaboration, and can attract sustained external funding. EECE has 12 tenured and tenure-track faculty and approximately 348 students. It offers two accredited undergraduate programs, an M.S. program, and Electrical and Computer Engineering concentrations within the Ph.D. in Engineering. The department’s principal research strengths are Electrical Systems, Biomedical Systems, and Intelligent Information Systems. Faculty collaborate across the University and with external partners in areas including biomedical imaging and sensing, remote sensing, autonomous navigation, robotics, cybersecurity, healthcare, transportation, and resilient infrastructure. Applicants must submit a cover letter, research statement, teaching philosophy and interests statement, current curriculum vitae, and contact information for three professional references through the University of Memphis faculty employment portal, selecting Full-Time Faculty. Application review begins immediately and may continue until the position is filled.
